Statement on Updated El Paso County Stay-at-Home Restrictions

EL PASO - I believe the restrictions were relaxed too soon. Under usual circumstances, local elected officials can make decisions to manage emergencies based on their community's needs. Albeit a difficult step to take for our business community, I am confident that Judge Samaniego decided with El Paso's best interest in mind and at the recommendation of our respected health authorities and our county attorney's backing. Our community will have to work hard to repair the damage already done, but we can recover from this. However, we can never bring back those we have lost and undoubtedly will lose if we don't take more stringent action now. People must take this seriously. Stay home as much as you can. Wear your mask if you must go out. Keep your loved ones safe by social distancing and practice good hand hygiene.
